Beach bound

 

You’re sitting on the driver seat of your ride. Sun is hitting hard through the windshield. You have your shades on. Your elbow is sticking out of the window. You’ve been sitting for a good twenty minutes, like a lizard, waiting for the heat to become unbearable.  In half an hour, you will be on the beach. You’ll have to focus on worrying about nothing from now on. The picture is perfect. You grab a cigarette, light it, you’re ready to go. No, not quite. You open the glove compartment and dig into the mess. You find it: the must have summertime cassette. Now you can hit the road!

Jazz from the attic

Close your eyes and take a deep breath.

Now let go.

You’re in a familiar place now, a place that brings back blurry childhood memories, mixed feelings of tranquillity and fear when you were standing alone in that particular space, filled with dust and cobwebs.

A few sunrays made their way through the roof window, contrasting with the prevailing darkness.

You’ll have to make your way through the old furniture to get it: that old vinyl crate that belonged to your grandfather… his old jazz collection.
